Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage is a collection of techniques focusing primarily to relax muscles by applying pressure to them against deeper muscles and bones, and rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart. The lymph system and veins (which carry blood back to the heart) both rely on muscle action, rather than heart pumping pressure, to operate.

Pre – Post Natal Massage

Rest is an essential component of a healthy pregnancy. Stress due to lack of sleep can wreak havoc with a mother’s immune system, and may even disrupt her baby’s development. Massage therapy can play an instrumental role in easing women through the various stages of maternity. These soothing Pre and Post-natal treatments specially tailored to the needs of pregnant woman and their changing bodies. This massage is a wonderful choice during pregnancy to relieve many of the discomforts due to the new center of gravity, such as backaches, stiff neck, leg cramps and edema. It is very helpful to promote relaxation and decreasing tensions which aids better sleep and a more comfortable pregnancy.

Deep Tissue Massage

Techniques which utilize deep tissue/deep muscle massage are administered to effect the sub-layer of musculature and fascia. These techniques require more advanced training and a more thorough understanding of anatomy and physiology. The muscles must be relaxed in order to effectively perform deep tissue massage; otherwise tight surface muscles prevent the practitioner from reaching deeper musculature. It helps with chronic muscular pain and injury rehabilitation, and reduces inflammation-related pain caused by arthritis and tendonitis. It is generally integrated with other massage techniques.

Sports Massage

Used mainly for athletes who train continuously. This type of massage targets muscles relevant to the particular athletic activity. It can be used pre-event, post-event and maintenance techniques that promote greater athletic endurance and performance, lessen the chances of injury while reducing recovery time.

Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage, also knows as Champissage, is a form of relaxation massage that focuses on the head (scalp), neck and shoulders which are important energy centers within the body. As implied by its name, this massage is a form of massage therapy created in India thousands of years ago and works to release any blocked negative energy in the body, reduce stress held in the head and shoulders as well as decreasing symptoms of several ailments in that target area. It increases circulation to the head and drainage of accumulated toxins. This massage is done with no oils on the scalp if preferred.

Head massage was featured in early Ayurvedic texts that date back to 4,000 years ago. This type of massage works on areas affected by mental and emotional stress. It generally soothes the nervous system and increases the production of endorphins (feel-good, pain-killing neurotransmitters). It can reduce nerve entrapment and nerve root compression caused by muscle tension around the cervical spine and shoulder areas. With today’s fast-paced lifestyle, stress and associated illnesses are high. Muscle pulls, migraines, tension headaches and toxic buildup in the body are very common. Indian Head Massage helps to calm the mind and relieve muscular discomfort and tension and therefore aiding relaxation. It improves circulation in the head, enhances the senses, and promotes clear thinking.

  • Reduction of tension resulting in headaches and migraines
  • Decrease of neck, shoulder and back pain
  • General detoxification by stimulating lymphatic drainage
  • Boost in immunity
  • Improved circulation and energy levels
  • Promotion of clarity and increased concentration
  • Reduction in depression and anxiety
  • Relief of sinusitis symptoms
  • Reduces pain for TMJ sufferers
  • Aid in vision and other sensory health
  • Reduction of sleeplessness, restlessness and insomnia
  • Boost of memory capabilities
  • Relief from stress and promotion of relaxation

Visceral Massage

Visceral manipulation therapy is a form of therapy based on gentle massage and manipulation of the viscera (focus is instead on the organs and here manipulation is used to try and improve their function by releasing tension and irritations). Your organs normally move to an extent as a result of pressures exerted by surrounding tissues, ligaments and joints, and that when this movement is interrupted the function of the organ is affected and the circulatory system and other connections may be blocked. Thus by massaging the area and restoring normal ‘movement’ the intention is to treat and prevent a range of problems such as: joint pain, range of motion, back pain, recovery from muscle and joint injury, improves mood and releases stress.

Hot Stone Massage

A unique connection with nature, Stone massage involves the application of water-heated basalt stones of varying sizes to key points on the body, giving a deep massage and creating sensations of comfort and warmth. The direct heat relaxes muscles, allowing manipulation of a greater intensity than regular massage.
